Bridge wizard

Follow-me needs a small Lua script, wzfm.lua, running on the radio. It sits between the radio and the phone: it streams telemetry to Wizzo, and passes Wizzo’s follow-me targets on to the flight controller. The Bridge wizard puts it on the radio’s SD card and checks it’s running.

Open it from Setup › Bridge wizard, or from the LINK tab when the bridge isn’t detected over USB. You need a USB-C cable for the install, even if you fly over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

Plug the radio into the phone and choose USB Storage (SD) on the radio. Wizzo shows Radio drive found when it sees it.

  • If Android mounts the drive, tap Choose SD card, pick the radio’s drive (its top level), tap Use this folder, then Allow.
  • If Android doesn’t mount it (some phones won’t), tap Open radio drive. Wizzo reads the card directly over USB. Android asks once whether Wizzo may use the USB device; tap OK.

Wizzo lists each script and whether it’s Not installed, Will update, or Up to date.

Tap Install scripts. Wizzo copies:

  • SCRIPTS/FUNCTIONS/wzfm.lua, the bridge;
  • SCRIPTS/TOOLS/wzdiag.lua, an on-radio diagnostics tool.

It then re-reads the card to make sure both copies are exact.

  1. Unplug the cable.
  2. SYS › Hardware: set the port the phone uses to LUA. That’s USB VCP for USB, or the AUX port your Bluetooth or Wi-Fi module is on.
  3. In the model’s Special Functions (or Global Functions, to cover every model) add ON › Lua Script › wzfm, and enable it.
  4. Connect again: plug back in and choose USB Serial (VCP), or connect over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi from the wizard.

The wizard listens for the bridge’s heartbeat, and Done unlocks once it arrives. If it doesn’t, the wizard says what’s most likely wrong. See also Troubleshooting.
